Matthew 5:6 – English Standard Version
These are words of Jesus from what is now called ‘The Sermon on the Mount’. ‘Blessed’ can mean ‘holy’, ‘enjoying happiness’, or being ‘highly favored’. Righteousness is the thinking and doing of what God wants for us. So, a person is holy, happy, or highly favored when they think about and do what God wants them to.
