To look crossed-eyes at someone

This means to look as though you don’t understand something.  If a person should know what you mean, but doesn’t act like they do, then you might ask ‘why are you looking cross-eyed at me?’  A parent could sternly tell a child ‘don’t look cross-eyed at me as though you don’t know what I mean.’
