If a person ‘packs’ well, he can fit a lot of items into a box for storage or a suitcase for travel.  In common English, though, this figure of speech does not refer to that kind of packing.  It refers to a person who can eat a lot of food.  ‘He loves pizza.’  ‘Yeah, he can really pack it away’ means ‘he’ can eat a lot of pizza at one time.
