Lying through their teeth.

This figure of speech refers to an insincere smile.  A person could smile and say that ‘everything is alright’.  But, the smile is intended to deceive the other person.  When a person smiles, you see their teeth.  So, a person who smiles and says something to try and deceive someone else is said to be lying through their teeth.
