That person is (or, I felt) clumsy as an ox.

An ox is an animal not known for its physical grace and ease of movement.  The figure of speech is widely used to describe a person who is not able to easily handle basic physical tasks.  Maybe they often drop things.  Or, they might be ‘awkward’ in personal relationships: I felt clumsy as an ox when I asked her to marry me.
