Off the top of my head

This figure of speech is usually the beginning of an answer to a question.  Persons who use this figure of speech have not had time to think carefully about possible consequences.  So, the answer might be changed.  I will have to check, but off the top of my head I think yes, you can have tomorrow off from work.
