That was a good flick.

The word in red is a slang expression for ‘movie’.  It refers to how light from old movie projectors causes a room to change rapidly from light to dark, with shadows moving on the walls, like the way a room is lit when a candle ‘flickers’.  A person can go see a flick, catch a flick, but is not typical to say ‘I am going to the flicks’.
